Overview:
This is a PKZIP v2.04g archive containing a PowerPoint presentation of David
Van Camp's presentation at the PowerSoft User's Meeting and Training
Conference in Orlando, FL, August 1996, PM106: Applying Design Patterns to
PowerBuilder 5 Development. Also, included is example PB source for the
implementation of an unlimited undo/redo datawindow stack, as demonstrated in
this presentation. This presentation fundamentally illustrates an approach to
teaching pattern-directed design with a specific emphasis on PowerBuilder.
However, the basic approach could be applied to any OO language.
Much of the last 1/3 or so presents a pure-PowerBuilder
solution to providing shared, asyncronous objects using distributed
powerbuilder (DPB). Most of the early 2/3's however is a rather generic
demonstration of pattern-directed design. I'd appreciate any comments or
(constructive) critisism so that I can make this better in future
presentations.
