The conference site consists of a few buildings very close to each other, so you certainly don't need a car during the conference.

If you want to drive directly to Kaufbeuren, please by your ticket at the counter in front of the escalators down to the S-Bahn platform. Price is 17.80€.
There are two trains leaving from the airport, both of which will take you to Munich Central Station. You will arrive at Munich Central Station ("Hauptbahnhof") about 40 minutes and an uncountable (13,5±1) number of stops later. Leave the S-Bahn and follow the signs directing you to the trains (DB, "Zu den Zügen"). Getting your connecting train at Munich Central Station will take you about 10 minutes.

At Munich Central Station, go to the tracks 27-36 at the right side of the station (marked "Gl. 27-36"), depending on the train you're taking. The large departure panel (titled "Abfahrt") at the main platform will tell you at which platform/track your train leaves. Get off the train at "Kaufbeuren"; the taxi rank is just outside the station.
