Notes on Paper 21: REJECTED
I don't recommend the paper "Design Patterns for Online
Derivatives
Trading" for PLoP.
As you can see below, Jason (the shepherd) also rejected it.
The patterns are very simple, for example, see this part of one
pattern:
---------------------
Problem
How the customer knows about the lot size of a company?
Forces
·It is necessary to look at the lot size to know the trading limits.
·Lot sizes can vary after some time period.
Solution
Lot sizes of all companies are to be stored in a database. Whenever the
user requests for this information display it to the user.
--------------------
There is little knowledge about the domain embedded in the patterns.
They intend to make a pattern language. This is probably a good idea,
then all the set of patterns might be useful someway.
Sincerely,
Rosana
--------------------
I don't suggest that Web Design Patterns for Online Derivatives Trading
be workshopped at PLoP.
The patterns don't suggest insight in the topic to me. If there is an
intention to workshop papers as part of an introduction to patterns,
then this paper could be accepted.
I do suspect that the authors could be encouraged to improve their
approach to patterns. I'd be reluctant to suggest this paper without
seeing whether others showed more promise though.

Reject: These are system requirements disguised as
patterns. Authors do not understand what patterns are. Too simple.
