PLoP 2006 Shepherded Papers

Notes on Paper 34:

Paper: APPLYING PATTERNS TO BUILD A LIGHTWEIGHT MIDDLEWARE FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

I recommend the paper to be workshopped at PLoP.

Rationale: The paper deals with an interesting topic. It is not a
pattern paper, but rather reports on a case study of using patterns,
which may eventually grow into a pattern language that explains how
to use existing patterns for building a lightweight middleware.
Unfortunately, the paper was not in a very good shape at the
beginning of shepherding. But through three iterations of
shepherding, the authors improved their work significantly. I think
the paper is in a good shape now. There are still some problems with
the English, but I think the authors can sort this out till the
final version is due. The authors were very cooperative. I think a
next good step for them would be to go into a writer's workshop.
