  1. Feyerabend Workshop

This conference is the fourth annual ChiliPLoP, designed to meet the special needs of two groups in the software community, pattern newcomers and pattern experts. Two parallel tracks are offered by the conference with special sessions scheduled for all participants to get together.

TRACK I
For those who are wondering what this patterns stuff is all about, we are offering the ultimate pattern writing experience! Under the guidance of stellar pattern contributors, Neil Harrison and Don Olson, newcomers will learn about patterns and how to write them. We are also offering an advanced session for those who don't need a patterns tutorial, but want help with writing patterns. For more information or to register for this track, contact the Conference Chair, John Letourneau.

TRACK II
In parallel, ChiliPLoP will feature a "hot topics" track for more experienced patterns folks to gather and tackle hot issues. Participants in this track must choose one hot topic and register with the specific workshop organizer.

May is a spectacular month in Arizona. Daytime highs in Carefree are typically in the low 80s F.(26 C.) while nighttime lows are in the low 50s F. (10 C.). The desert is blooming "and the skies are not cloudy all day!"

ChiliPLoP will be held at the Lutheran Retreat Center in Carefree, about an hour northeast of Phoenix, from Tuesday May 1 through Friday May 4.

Fees for conference attendees:
$800 (double occupancy) — $925 after 3/16/2001
$950 (single occupancy)  —  $1100 after 3/16/2001

This covers all conference costs, all meals, 3 nights lodging at the Lutheran Retreat Center, evening refreshments, all activities, and transportation to and from the Phoenix airport. The conference runs from Tuesday through Friday.

The cost for each guest accompanying a registrant is $250 for the conference period. Children 5 and under are free. This includes all meals, taxes and service charges, and transportation to and from the Phoenix airport.

Early May is a great time to explore Arizona, and there are many wonderful places within easy distance from Carefree. Consider bringing your family or companion with you to have fun in the sun while you are hard at work. Or, less selflessly, consider extending your stay by arriving early or staying late so you too can relax and enjoy a short vacation. Contact Nigel Reynolds for information on places to visit, things to do, local tours and guest activities. Nigel has provided valuable suggestions, guidance and ideas to past participants.

Please do not contact the Lutheran Retreat Center for information about the conference. Please contact John Letourneau.
